Reviving Silk Industry, says Mitra.

The West Bengal finance and industries minister Amit Mitra gave a speech at the Silk River closing ceremony which highlighted the revival of the local silk industry, referred to as muslin, which the project has helped to start.

He said that the finesse of the fabric can be gauged by the fact that 1 inch of silk has 1800 strands of thread.  This article appeared in The Asian Age on 17th Dec on page 1.
